A Web content management system (WCMS) is a content management system, which is exclusively or occupied predominantly with the publication of contents on web pages. However also exports control larger content management of systems (both open SOURCE and commercially) into other formats apart from publishing in HTML (XML, pdf, pressure preliminary stage"…).

The term content management is used frequently synonymously with Web content management, although this represents an inadmissible reduction on the Internet surrounding field. On the requirements Web content management is to be seen dependent as a component of Enterprise content management or as independent application. The range of the functions of the existing systems reaches information from the Internet component system to simply providing of a Website up to the full Workflow integration in the Lifecycle management.
