The virtual technical library political science (ViFaPol) is a virtual technical library, which makes specialized information available from the field of the political science in an Internet portal to on-line search. She is administered by the state and university library Hamburg, which lead also the special assembly area for politics-scientific special literature. At the beginning of of 2006 has the SUB Hamburg more than 1000 print and on-line technical periodicals as well as 50 special data banks in the Portfolio.

In order to clearly facilitate the entrance to this literature, the SUB Hamburg with support of the German research council develops the virtual technical library political science since center 2000. A goal of the project is the development of a central entrance into the specializedscientific search after information objects of all kinds. In addition belong sources of Internet, magazines and essays, data bases, Monographien and not least grey literature.

Heart of the search portal for the political science is the Metasuche. With a retrieval query can be scanned up to 24 data bases. In the hit representation different ways are pointed out to the users, how they arrive from their job to the document. The specialized information guide of ViFaPol offers an ideal entrance into the search for technically relevant sources of Internet, in which at present approximately 3,600 sources of Internet, magazines and data bases are contained. This search is supplemented by the "“search area political science"”, by means of which approx. 2.5 million sides are reached, under it more than 140,000 pdf documents.
