Typosquatting is a form of Cybersquatting, which belongs been based on it that a person types and then on an alternative Site is led a Websiteadresse in a Webbrowser inadvertently wrongly, to the Cybersquatter. This side is usually pornografisch or sow-Irish, sometimes in addition, a competition offer.

In addition, there are e.g. cases, in which a company possesses a number of Web addresses with typing errors and to the correctly spelled Hauptwebsite reroutes these, like www.goolge.de, www.googel.de and www.gogle.de, which reroute all to www.google.de.

The domain of the Website of the president of the United States, ''' www.whitehouse.gov ''', has two admitted "“typing errors"”: www.whitehouse.com, a pornografische Website, and www.whitehouse.org, an sow-Irish Site.

Also the Wikipedia is a Typosquatting victim: www.wiipedia.org, www.eikipedia.org and www.wilipedia.org are all web pages, which contain Pop Ups, Spyware/Adware and advertising search machines.

Somewhat something similar induced AT&T to suddenly give the telephone number up "“1-800-OPERATOR"” and to replace it with "“1-800-CALL-ATT"”. It seems, as if many Americans "“operator"” cannot spell, because MCI had much work with the number "“1-800-OPERATER"”. (In both numbers locking "“R"” is redundant.)
