SIM Instant of measuringclose (SIM-IM) is an open of SOURCE, Plugin based, Multi minutes Instant Messaging Client. It is available for Linux, Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac OS X and develops on the Qt-Framework.

SIM-IM was originally developed under the name SIM (simple Instant of measuringclose) by Vladimir Shutoff.

Functions

SIM-IM has under the Instant fair gladly with the largest function variety to exhibit. It supports minutes of the services AIM, ICQ, Jabber, MSN and YIM, live journal and is available in several languages.

A special feature of SIM-IM, which the official ICQ Client did not possess, was the announcement of contacts, which would so normally appear their status on "„invisibly "“to have set and as "„off-lines "“. After a minutes update on the part of AOL is momentarily no longer available this function however.

SIM-IM indicates beyond that very detailed information about the contacts, like name and version of the used Clients, to IP addresses etc. A further function is the integrated network monitor, which can indicate minutes as well as debugging and Eventinformationen.

Current

After Vladimir Shutoff had left the project after the version 0.9.3, the development long time stood still. The project was split up (Fork) and developed further under the new name SIM-IM of other programmers. On 24 February 2006 the first expenditure (version 0.9.4 RC1) of this Forks was published.
