By a short URL service one understands the forwarding of a web page visitor on a web page with (tendentious) long URL, after this entered (tendentious) short URL before. The short URL serves thus as better noticing and fast those which can be entered alias the long URL.

Service

The offer consists of two parts:

1. On the homepage of the offerer one can provide a short in a form for Web under indication of the desired goal URL alias.
2. Each call of the alias URL is passed on automatically afterwards on the goal URL indicated before.

Technology

The short URL contains a character sequence, which serves the operator of the short URL service as clear distinguishing feature (above: "„o5lao "“). On the basis its long URL in the data base of the operator can be determined. The Web server sends then to the Client a HTTP status code in the header and communicates to the Browser the new address. In the example from above would be:

Criticism

• URL Aliase hide the actual link goal before the user.
