A SEO Contest is a competition, with the participants (usually Suchmaschinenoptimierer) tries with fictitious words with a search machine to be listed as far as possible in front. One of the well-known-constant competitions was brought by the computer journal c't for "“Hommingberger Gepardenforelle"” into being. Further competitions are organized regularly by Yahoo, as well as various SEO forums.

As criticism it is to be marked that by these competitions search machines are zugespammt.
