A semantic Wiki is a Wiki, which has a model of the knowledge stored in it. Normal Wikis uses structured text and did not type hyper+on the left of. Semantic Wikis makes possible to record knowledge over sides (meta data) and its relations. The knowledge base of a semantic Wikis is usually in a formal language, so that machines it zumindet process partly automatically can. The technologies from the range of the semantic Web form thereby the basis for automatic conclusions in the knowledge base.

In particular algorithms can derive new knowledge (e.g. additional relations between sides) from the existing facts.
