Psi (spoken []) is a Instant Messaging (IN), which is based on Qt - program for Jabber minutes (XMPP). It is freely available under the general Public License (GNU).

Supported operating systems

Psi runs under Linux, Windows and Mac OS. Installation packages (RPM, deb) are available for many Linux distributions. Postage run gene gives it also for FreeBSD and Sun of Solaris operating systems.

Feature

• High performance and convenient Jabber Client, which adheres strictly to the standards of the Jabber software Foundation.

• File transfer between Jabber users. It is not possible however yet to receive or send files from other networks (IN).
• Typing Notification (announcement whether interlocutor straight taps or not)
• Tabbed Chatting (different Chats can be arranged by register maps)
• The windows of the program can be switched and made transparency so behind it lying visibly.
• Support of the SSL transmission protocol
• Psi permits a sending and a receiving from coded messages by means of GnuPG.
• By the creation of user profiles it is possible that several persons can use the software at a computer.

The authors

The program is an open SOURCE project and considerably by Justin Karneges was developed. The programming of the basis code could be recompensed Karneges in the meantime - in such a way psi developed very well. The release of the releases runs nevertheless relatively slowly. Justin Karneges left the project at the end of of 2004. The care of the project lies now in the hands of Kevin Smith. Guidelines

A goal of the psi project is it, a high performance, to offer but user friendly Jabber/XMPP Client. Thus with the programming work one tries to hold itself strengstens on the XMPP collecting mains and Jabber JEPs. This means that the psi team does not implement features, as long as they were not accepted of the Jabber Community as standard. Thus it is to be guaranteed that psi remains compatible and stable.

Naming

"„Psi "“is the abbreviation of psynergy, a word creation out psychic and energy (energy). Psi is a Greek letter these is likewise the Logo of the Messengers.
