Pandora is the result of the Music Genome Project, which used up itself the music analysis. This concerns a new Internet radio.
Pandora.com is based on the Music Genome Project, which was created on 6 January 2000 by Tim Westergren. Westergren set itself with professional as well as amateur musicians together and tried music pieces into attributes to divide to make their genes. Within 5 years 10,000 interpreters were examined in this way. The name Music Genome Project is derived from the human Genome Project, a whose goal was it to decode the human gene code. Something similar tries the Music Genome Project with music.
The user indicates the title of an interpreter or a song. If this is contained in the title data base, in music similar titles are looked for and brought in as radio.
In this data base more than 300,000 titles of over 10.000 artists are stored. In 400 attributes characteristics can be specified.
By positive or negative evaluations of the pieces the user can define its music taste more near. The Client indicates the Songs played during a session as History, iTunes can be bought over a context menu the respective Song with Amazon or.
It is not possible (according to Pandora) for license-legal reasons to request a certain title or repeat pieces (jump over is limited possible). The web page uses Flash; to prevent except around functionalities specified above to realize probably also around storing the Streams.
