The OAIster is a search machine for meta data of documents on document servers, those the OAI standard (OAI: ) Correspond to open Archives initiative. It is operated by the University OF Michigan.

With 7.145.022 data records from 620 institutions on 19 April 2006 the OAIster is the most important search machine for open ACCESS contents. It resembles a library OPAC with its Suchfeldern for author, title, special reference (Subject).
