NZB is a file format for the storage of information about Usenet contributions, which files contain. The panel Usenet distributed world-wide is used among other things also for offering and downloading files. One calls the part of the Usenet, which is in principle only used in addition, also Binary Usenet, because of the binary files ("„Binaries "“), which are to be found there differently than in the other text-oriented Usenet. Since restrictions of size for individual Usenet contributions exist, files are distributed starting from a certain size on several single contributions. A NZB file contains, those of references to all single contributions for the decoding of the file is necessary and is thereby a kind index.
