The notation 3 (or N3) is equivalent to RDF in its XML syntax to become acquainted with but substantially more simply and well suitably around bases of the semantic Web. This format of Tim Berners Lee is developed.

An example for the formulation of two RDF Tripel in N3:

@prefix DC: < http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/ >. < http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Berners-Lee > DC: "“Tim Berners Lee"”; DC: more publisher "“Wikipedia"”.

Semicolon after the first Tripel points out that the statement following on it refers to the same subject. Both the statement read thus: Resources identified with "“http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Berners-Lee"” have the title "“Tim Berners Lee"”. Their publisher is called "“Wikipedia"”.

The contraction "“DC: "” Ontologie refers to the exact definitions for "“titles"” and "“publishers"” in Dublin core.
