New server one calls either:

  • a software, which passes on, stores and makes Usenet messages available, or
  • a server (computer), on which so a software runs.

For calling up Usenet messages - mostly articles or Postings mentioned - minutes NNTP are usually used. To the forwarding of the articles likewise minutes NNTP come to the employment, in addition, the classical form of the article passing on by UUCP is today (2006) quite still in the use.
