Nearly TRACK is a decentralized Peer ton Peer Netzwerkprotokoll, that from exchange stock exchange programs, as KaZaA and MLDonkey are used. Nearly TRACK was at the beginning of of 2003 the most popular exchange stock exchange network at all, which specialized mainly in the exchange of MP3-Dateien, however also for every other type of file, e.g. video files, programs and pictures. Nearly TRACK maintains more exchange stock exchange user than Napster in its bloom time ever reached. History

Nearly TRACK is a joint undertaking of Sharman networks, AltNet and Joltid.

The nearly TRACK minutes and Kazaa are ideas of Niklas & Janus Friis and both in March 2001 were published. Thus the history of nearly TRACKs and Kazaa is very closely linked. By Adware, Spyware, which continuous complaints of the RIAA in relation to individual exchange stock exchange users and rising popularity and improvement of other large networks and their Clients came it at that time to a strong break-down of the user number, from which the network recovers only slowly however constant. Technology

Nearly TRACK is a so-called P2P minutes of the second generation. It is based on the Gnutella minutes and extends it by Supernodes (computer as junctions in the network serve). Supernodes act as temporary index servers for other slower Clients and increase thus the scaling barness of the network. Supernode functionality is built to each user into the Clientsoftware and can, a certain range and an efficient PC presupposed, its computer a Supernode make.

In order to be able to be connected at all successfully to the network, a list of IP addresses of some Supernodes is firmly programmed in the Client. The Client tries to make first a connection to them and if successful, he calls a list up at present active Supernodes, which is along-used also for future call attempts. The Client selects itself a Supernode, which it high-loads and over now also all retrieval queries places a list of its offered files. The Supernode communicates with further Supernodes, in order to fulfill retrieval queries of the Clients. If a looked for file was found, the Client develops a direct connection to the source and the file is transferred over HTTP.

In order to make possible of several sources download it for users, nearly TRACK sets hash algorithm on the UUHash. For very large files check totals with UUHash can be provided even on achievement-weaker computers very fast. However substantial falsifications/corrupting of a file remain unnoticed. Above all the RIAA uses this weak point, in order to spread falsified or defective files in the network.

Clients

The nearly TRACK minutes uses one of the creators undokumentierte coding. The source code of the first Clients was not published, however the initialization data for the coding are transmitted in the plain language. A Public key coding is not used, which arranged the Reverse engineering comparatively simple.
