A Multiposting is repeated dispatching of the same Usenet article to different groups (FORKS).

It can be meaningful under certain circumstances to set a discussion contribution at the same time in the Usenet in more than newsgroup. One realizes this usually by an individual article, which specifies all groups which can be covered separated in the newsgroup header by commas. One calls Crossposting.

Who knows this beginning, to whose software this illegally or whose News Provider Crosspostings does not forbid, which can nevertheless still convert by a Multiposting dispatching to different groups by the back door. The same article text is sent successively into each group as own articles.

This procedure is however in the net municipality because range and storage location are used unnecessarily several times. In addition an article cannot being marked differently as with the Crossposting automatically than read, as soon as a user read it in at least one of his subscribed groups. This is because of the fact that the Message IDs of the different article versions is different with the Multiposting and does not examine newsreader generally article contents, in order to determine dupes.
