Mozilla Sunbird is its own, platform-independent personnel information manager (PIM) - software of the Mozilla project. In addition, Sunbird used since the version 0.3a1 a SQLite data base for the internal storage of the calendar dates, supports the standard iCalendar for storing and loading of external calendars. Further in and export filter for different other file formats exist.

During the designation Sunbird concerns it the project name, which is possibly changed with progressive level of development still.

The software is to support in the long run both the Browser Mozilla Firefox and the E-Mail program Mozilla Thunderbird and makes thus a further contribution to a complete open SOURCE alternative to the Microsoft products Internet Explorer and Outlook.

Level of development

Sunbird is momentarily in the development phase, a stable functionality however already offers. The developers recommend momentarily only one test employment. Already in the near future is to be counted however on a practice-suited version. The current version 0.3a2 appeared at the 11. May 2006.
