Moving desire is a E-Mail and a newsreader, which unite since 1998 of Yuuichi Teranishi and other, mainly Japanese developers are maintained. It is written complete in Emacs Lisp and runs therefore under Emacs or XEmacs.
It orients itself at other emacs E-Mail programs such as Gnus, Mew or VM, is however optimized for IMAP. In addition, it controls other E-Mail-Backends such as MH, Maildir or POP3.
In order to represent fast a news summary, it puts on a Cache for messages. It has for it its own module named ELMO (ELISP LIBRARY for Message Orchestration). That makes moving desire faster than other emacs E-Mail programs.
In order to write and represent MIME messages, the package uses SEMI (SEMI is of Emacs MIME interface). This needs the packages APEL (A portable Emacs Libary) and FLIM (Faithful LIBRARY Internet Message about) just like ELMO.
Besides moving desire supports also Shimbun for looking at Web news and Namazu as full text search engine.
