On Morpheus.com a Web-based search interface, how it had also Audiogalaxy, is however can with Morpheus for all medium types and not only for MP3s be looked. Morpheus changed 2001 from OpenNap minutes to nearly TRACKs. On 26 February 2002 suddenly all Morpheus Clients heard to function on, when nearly TRACK minutes were updated by its network carriers, and all users of Morpheus were locked out at one blow from the apparently completely uncontrollable network, could not connect no more. As happened this turned out due to unpaid calculations on the part of StreamCast to the owners of FastTrack.Am 2. March 2003 was published a new, less stable version of the Morpheus Clients, which touched down now on the Gnutella network and which network core of Gnucleus had taken over. To some arguments with the GPL, under which Gnucleus was published, Morpheus changed to a Jtella core very much become outdated. When the disputes were settled, Morpheus changed back to the Gnucleus core. Since then the network core again and again updated and supported now beside Gnutella2 also "NEOnet", Plugins for MLDonkey (the access to eDonkey2000, Overnet and nearly TRACKs offer) and since newest also support for Bittorrent.
In April 2003 a Federal court in Los Angeles decided against the complaints of the RIAA and MPAA that the exchange stock exchange software of Grokster and StreamCast (Vertreiber of the Morpheus P2P software) was not illegal. On 17 August 2004 the Ninth Circuit Court OF Appeals a partial decision, which asked now the question whether a manufacturer of exchange stock exchange software for copyright offences of the final users had. The court decided in favor of Grokster and StreamCast, which cannot be made responsible for illegitimate actions of their final users.
In December 2004 the United States agreed supreme Court (highest court) of a hearing. The verbal hearing became on the 29. March 2005 determined. A final decision was expected July 2005. As then in January 2006 the Domains morpheus.com, www.streamcastnetworks.com and musiccity.com were not any longer dissolved seemed the development of Morpheus to have been adjusted. Since February 2006 the web pages are however again on-line. Whether it in the background changes gave is still unclear.
