mICQ a free text-based ICQ Instant Messaging program, which runs on a multiplicity from platforms, is in particular on AmigaOS, BeOS, Windows either with Cygwin or MinGW, OS X, NetBSD/OpenBSD/FreeBSD, the Sharp Zaurus, Linux and the most commercial Unices, there in particular Solaris, HP-UX and AIX.
mICQ has many abilities of the official Clients. Because of its command line interface it is usable also for blind users by acoustic output or Braille lines. It offers support for sending and a receiving from confirmed and unconfirmed university-code-coded messages (it understands UTF-8 also for message types, with which the official Client does not use this) and the recognition of other Clients.
mICQ supported SSL-coded, compatible direct connections too licq and SIM and are correctly internationalized; Germans, English and further translations are attached. at the same time mICQ several UIN (user numbers) can use and are versatile configurable (e.g. different colors for detailed messages of different contacts or to different - own - user numbers).
An interesting function of mICQ is deviating, from the characteristics "standard" - ICQ Clients would normally appear to be able to indicate also contacts which placed their status on "invisibly", therefore it as "off-lines".
mICQ is licensed under the conditions of the 2. Version of the GNU general Public License; recently the Lizenzierung was extended by the open SSL exception. Versions forwards micq 0.4.8 were released of matt D. Smith as public domain; it is however only few from the original code remaining. All later adding are of Ruediger Kuhlmann, in particular the support for current ICQ minutes version 8.
