The Mashup (English for Vermanschung) designates the production of new Web contents by the smooth (RH) combination of Web contents already existing and - offers. Thus the term originates also from the world of the music and means there in English as much as Remix. Into the German linguistic area the term was imported approximately around the key word Web 2,0, since Mashups are stated as a substantial example of the new at Web 2,0.

Typically contents of the Mashup Website are merged over open programming interfaces, by Web feed (e.g. RSS) or Javascript.

A particularly large number of Mashups links thereby geographical data, for example from Google map, with other contents such as photos or classified advertisements.
