"“MACH FIELD"” is a Austrian artist duo.

It was created 1999 by the medium artists Michael Mastrototaro and Sabine Maier in Vienna. Their fields of activity are net art, short & experimental film, Streamingprojekte, interactive installations as well as work for the public area. Since 2004 MACH FIELD operates an interdisciplinary media art laboratory in Vienna. Projects, exhibitions and installations/Screenings in Europe, Central America and in the USA.

THE GAME was a comparative experiment over the social behavior of individuals as a function of medialem context. The comparison as such taken place between material and so-called virtual area: participating itself in the safe role of the art recipient (- consumers), was however in fact investigation objects (like also victims of its own impulses). A play remains a play/is no play.

• UDO & UDO entry
  • The net project UDO makes possible to put it the finger on a vein of the Internet and to feel the pulse its. It is a transformation of the apparently anonymous in the rear/underground of running data line contents into the audible and visible spectrum.

• VISP (2005)
  • VISP understands itself as a creative process, which uses and visualizes computer viruses and Spams artistically. Comparably the project in the course of the artistic argument mutated biological viruses.

  • In the interactive video installation IVI that becomes by means of pattern recognition

Medium video going by extends that by the complex interaction between video and the human body a new experience-level-develops. The recipient becomes visual part of the seeing and in the same instant interaction instrument, whose collective one is made possible like also individual influence.
