A link resolver is a system used within the range of digital libraries to the availability display of scientific publications. The task of a link resolver is it to receive and produce in connection with information about local inventory data and license information a direct hyper+left on suitable services meta data (for example in form open URL). To the services belong to reference to electronic full texts, document delivery services, the local OPAC and the book trade. During a direct forwarding by the link resolver to another service the link resolver takes the function of a Proxy. Instead indicated on an inserted side a selection of services, then the borders can disappear to a Web portal or a Metasuchmaschine.

Popular commercial systems for link resolvers are ex Libris SFX and Ovid LinkSolver. Also the electronic magazine library offers functions of a link resolver.
