The Internet newspaper is not an official organ of the catholic church and exclusively finances itself therefore from donations, advertisements, subsidies and allowances. An official promotion by the Austrian bishop conference or the does not exist.
The Internet newspaper kath.net and the carrier association represent a conservative theological and socio-political point of view, which orients itself at the defaults of the teaching profession of the catholic church.
The association kath.net started designated Kathpedia, which admitted on from the Wikipedia software MediaWiki run in the spring 2006 those first as "catholic Wikipedia". The cooperation is possible however only after previous registration. Kathpedia differs by its konfessionelle orientation and the contentwise adjustment at the Roman teaching profession clearly from the concept of the Wikipedia, which are based on as neutral a point of view of the representation as possible. The Kathpedia calls itself as "free catholic encyclopedia" in the sense of a free of charge available reference book. The number of articles is however so far small.
