Kammquoting develops, if the text in a E-Mail or in a Usenet contribution will umbrochen in such a way by additional quotation characters that the last in each case word in a new line lands.

The term Kammquoting developed for that from the similarity, alternating is enough and short lines with a comb.
In the past usual terminals could represent only 80 indications per line. Therefore in the mailbox nets and in the Usenet the convention was in-patriated to consider this border:
New text is therefore to be written with width by approximately 72 indications per line. By genugt place remains in order marking the text by placing in front one "> "in answers as quotation. However this procedure presupposes a special support in new readers: The text entered by the user must be made up clearly in former times as quoted text.
There are programs (like Microsoft Outlook Express), which with providing an answer article quoted text in the same place as the normal text makes up, instead of doing this only when reaching 80 indications in a line. As result individual words of the quoted text do not stand without quotation characters in their own line and it are recognizable suddenly any longer, who wrote which.
