Jetty is in Java of written Servlet/JSP containers and Web servers. It is published as open SOURCE software under the Apache license, is however no project of the Apache software Foundation.Seine architecture and its small size makes possible it to integrate it easily into other software. Among other things the J2EE-Applicationserver JBoss, JOnAS and the Geronimo in the development uses it for the processing of Servlets and JSPs.

Although Jetty uses the JSP compiler Jasper and the Servlet container Catalina of the Apache Tomcat, he applies in the distribution on the part of as somewhat faster than the reference implementation Jakarta of the project.
