Galaxywars was the first large German-language Browserspiel, is operated it from the Gameforge GmbH with seat in Karlsruhe.
Five Galaxywars servers at the net are current. The number of the servers can vary, since per server in each case a Galaxywars universe is started. Galaxywars should become with the emergence originally a Browserspiel, which should be a mixture from the plays Planetarion and StarCraft. At the end of February/at the beginning of March 2001 then however nevertheless an own project one developed, which should carry the name Galaxywars.
On 29 July 2001 the play round GW01 started. Also the Community forum, still another YaBB forum, was at that time brought at this time into being. Since Galaxywars had become already somewhat more well-known, it was within the first four days already over 500 new contributions in the forum and it was a safe indication for the fact that the player number of Galaxywars would rise rapidly. GW05 was the completely again programmed follow-up version of GW03. It possessed no combat system and was limited to the development of mines, research and spaceship fleets. One could not bring the latters for lack of combat system however to the employment.
This new play round had again a combat system, and one could use the fleets again. Performance problems on the server ensured for the fact that university verses became smaller. Since the player number should remain, one started simply a second universe on a second server. Later still another third and fourth universe was added. At the end of March 2005 became a nose admits, which doubled resources and let thus enormous fleets develop. Since the nose was already for a very long time used, all 4 university verses over 100.000 players were also resetet.
GW-Classic 2 is rather an unofficial title. The Relaunch of the GW-Classic round symbolizes the 2 on 7 April 2005. Since then the current round runs. It started in the universe 1 and 2 first. Later still another third universe was added, since first the two became to slow due to from to high server load. Since 1 December 2005 exists also a fourth universe, which could be pleased on the first day already about 7000 registrations. At present altogether 111771 player accounts exist with GalaxyWars. Most important visible innovations for the players of this new round: The removal of the fleet nose. With the removal of the nose new of nose were produced. Again some players used these programming errors. The invasion ships were taken from the TechTree, which led however no difference in the Gameplay with itself, since the invasion ships never functioned. The research a space folding drive was added, that for 2 new ship types, which Noah (trading vessel) and the Longeagle X (battle ship) are needed. Besides some little things were added, which are to facilitate the play (e.g. Galaxywechsel with "Enter confirmation").
The Game runs with each usual Browser. One provides oneself simply an account, logs in, and can play. One starts with an individual planet, which announced itself coincidentally in the universe for which one is platziert. First one must remove the mines for the raw materials iron and Lutinum, in order to build later new buildings like a drilling rig, which is important again as a water supplier for the chemistry factory, around the 4. To produce raw material - hydrogen -. Later one builds still different buildings like the control center, a ship factory, and a research center. If one has only Kolonisationsschiffe, one can establish oneself also on other planet new colonies. At present the limit is with 20 planets per player (conditions 22 December 2005).

The players often unite in alliances, in order to be able to maintain ground better against stronger players and other alliances. Within the alliances with raw materials one acts actively, and it with the development mutually supported, also with military conflicts normally hold together the players of an alliance.
Wars are delivered between individual players and between alliances. A party of another explains the war. A war is usually led across a fixed period, and the most different yardsticks are used, in order to determine the winner. Usually it concerns however the number of destroyed opposing ships.
For successful playing of Galaxywars one needs much time and patience. Some player puts months into the structure of an account. Between the Galaxywars players a kind match therefore exists who possesses the largest fleet and which destroyed most ships.
