Gaim is a Instant of measuringclose, which was originally written by Mark Spencer for systems (GNU/Linux, BSD), now in addition, is executable on Microsoft Windows and can with Plugins be strongly extended.

Supported minutes

Gaim is a Multiprotokoll Instant Messenger, which permits it to use the same program for different Instant Messenger services. This ability is made possible by Plugins, which respective minutes for Gaim to implement. Beside the official Plugins for officially supported minutes there are thereby still specially Plugins, which are ready placed by other developers or projects, in order to make Gaim compatible these networks. At present there are Plugins for the among other things following minutes:

• Jabber/Google talc (is based on Jabber)
• ICQ
• Internet Relay Chat (IRC)
• Lotus SAM time (with specially Plugin)
• MSN of measuringclose (without MSN of measuringclose 7.0)
• Novell Groupwise
• OpenNap (Napster)
• SILC
• Xfire (with specially Plugin)
• Yahoo! More measuringclosely (YIM)
• Zephyr
• SIMPLE ONE

Further Plugins

Beside the minutes Plugins Gaim can be equipped also with Plugins, which extend the function range. This reaches users registered by extended possibilities of the notification when on and logging out up to Plugins, which offer kryptografische functions and code so the messages. At present there are 16.01.2006 Gaim Plugins on sourceforge.net, 16.01.2006 beside the official minutes Plugins altogether more than 30 further Plugins for Gaim Plugins on the Gaim web page.

Gaim 2.x

Gaim stands at present under strong advancement for Gaim 2.x. to this new version is published, it no Minor release more will presumably give. The third beta version of Gaim 2.0.0 appeared to 29. March 2006.
