A fragment designator (English fragment more identifier) is added a URI (thus also URL), in order to address locally parts of a document. The interpretation depends on the kind of the resource and the Parser. The Fragmentbezeichenr is separated with a certain indication (usually #) from the URI.

Examples:

  • In applications of HTML www.blah.org/schmu.html#anker1 refers to the HTML element in schmu.html, which contains the "“anchor attribute"” name= of " anker1"”.
  • In XML applications a XPointer should to be begun be able with www.blah.org/schmu.xml#xpointer(//Kamel), which supplies all XML elements with name "“camel"” from the file schmu.xml as result.
