Find A Grave (or also find A Grave) is an on-line data base for cemeteries and burial places, which it among other things makes for the user possible to locate grave places of the famous deceased personalities.

The Website was created 1995 by Jim tip clay/tone. Background was the fact that it could not find a side in the Internet, with its hobby was i.e. concerned, visiting graves of famous personalities.

With the time and increasing demand the Site was developed. Beside the Famous People search (prominent search) gives it in the meantime also the possibility of searching to graves from civilians to. Altogether the data base has already over 10 million entries.

The Website contains a list of cemeteries and graves approximately around the world. The American cemeteries are divided according to state and district. From many cemeteries it in addition photo gives. For each registered grave to a large extent the following data are present: Date of birth and place as well as dying date and place, information to the biography of the deceased, information for the cemetery and the situation of the grave as well as photo. Finally there is also information to the respective coworker, who wrote the contribution.

According to data of the operator approx. 200,000 freiwillige coworkers participate in the project. Similarly as Wikipedia lives the Web operational readiness level of this freiwilligen aids, who daily for example improvements distinguished or new photos insert and, would not be possible without those the project.
