A Domainweiterleitung (URL forward) is used, around a Domain (e.g. "“wikipedia.de"”) to another host address (e.g. to pass on "“wikipedia.co.uk"”).

Purposefully only the Domainname can be replaced. Thus leaves itself

"“http://www.wikipedia.de/"” after "“http://www.wikipedia.co.uk/"”

reroute, so that with call of

"“http://www.wikipedia.de/photos/2005.html"” automatically "“http://www.wikipedia.co.uk/photos/2005.html"”

in the Browser one indicates.

A forwarding can be put also on a firm side, as for example "“http://www.wikipedia.org/umzug.html"”.

Actually the Browser implements the forwarding, since it receives one Redirect instruction with new address from the first server only.
