One point of confluence is the intersection of an integral degree of longitude and an integral degree of latitude. There are computationally 64,442 points of confluence (21,541 ashore, 38,411 on sea surfaces and 4,490 within the range of the pole caps). The maximum distance of any point on the earth's surface to next point of confluence is with approx. 79 km.
A goal of the Degree Confluence Projects is it that each attainable point of confluence is visited and photographed. The participants are requested to stop a report and a photo on the project sides in the Internet (see Web left). The project proceeds from 12.621 points of confluence, which can be visited.
