The German Commercial Internet Exchange (DE-CIX) is an Internet knot in Frankfurt/Main.

It became 1995 by electronics the Commerce forum (short: eco), the federation of the German Internet economy, based and since then operated. Members of the eco federation received, if they peeren at the DE-CIX, discounts for/the rented haven (s), to enlist critics accuse eco to thus try new members.

It completes 85 % of German Peering traffic according to own data and is the fourth largest such exchange point in Europe. It is since 1995 in enterprise. 1999 moved the DE-CIX into a new computing centre of the company Interxion at the Hanauer highway in Frankfurt/Main. In April 2001 the DE-CIX 2 went into enterprise, in order to solve the place problems in the old computing centre and increase the reliability. Both locations were interconnected by glass fiber lines. Rising Internet traffic as well as the requirement after further reliability made it necessary to take in January 2004 a third DE-CIX-knot in enterprise which was installed at the company TeleCity in the Gutleutstrasse in Frankfurt/Main. On all three locations today one SWITCH each of the type Cisco Catalyst 6509-NEB-A works. In December 2005 165 Internet service Provider and other organizations was tied up (practically all large German Internet Provider with exception of the German Telekom and AOL peeren at the DE-CIX). The information flow-rate exceeded April 2006 for the first time the mark of 60 Gigabit per second. The data arising doubles oneself about every 14 months (see Moore law).
