A Darknet is a private Peer ton Peer net, in which the users connect themselves only with humans, who they trust. Such nets are normally small, often with less than ten participants per net. Generally a Darknet can be any closed group of communicating people, but the name is usually used for file sharing nets.

The word Darknet comes from the article The Darknet and the Future OF content distribution.
