Crossposting is a technical term from electronic Diskussionskultur.Dabei concerns it a contribution, which is dispatched at the same time to more than one forum. This is first of all meaningful with topics, which are in several forums from interest. One reaches readers in the comparison to sending away by a Crossposting a larger number into an individual forum. In the Usenet one produces a Crossposting by a comma-separated list of group names in the newsgroup: - Headers.

In order not to let a following discussion of the contribution splinter, it is meaningful to resume it only in one of the forums. In the Usenet the author of a Crosspostings reaches by setting Followup tons: - Headers. In this he suggests newsgroup, which he regards for this purpose as most meaningful. Poster leaves itself alternative suggest in the Followup ton header by the value that a discussion no more separate in the forum privately by E-Mail be continued should.

Dispatching of a message to too many forums is at the same time, whereby however no generally accepted borders exist. The Breidbart index defines in addition a computation regulation. In particular unwanted Werbepostings abuses the possibility of the Crosspostings and is considered as Spam.

A Multiposting is in principle rejected contrary to the Crossposting. A message is individually set off into each forum, instead of sending it as uniquely with the Crossposting with a list from forums. The Multiposting uses more resources with new servers and users and prevents a marking of an article than read, as soon as the user read it in one of the goal forums.
