CENTR (Council OF European national Top level Domain Registries) is British "„emergency for profit "“(not profit-oriented) a combination of ccTLD Registries.

CENTR was also created 1998 first purely European focus, which is open to membership today however each Registry, which administers one ccTLD in accordance with ISO 3166-1.

Major task of CENTR is the lobbyism, in particular the agency of the ccTLD interests opposite ICANN. Here CENTR takes a decentralized position in relation to the often centralistic conceptions of the ICANN and argues that each national Internet Community is to administer its own Top level Domain after locally been suitable appearing guidelines. This is alone already due to that variety of the national laws and other conditions necessarily. ICANN sees against it advantages for stability, efficiency and usability of the Internet, if global standards are kept.

He expresses himself frequently in the reproach that the global standards planned by ICANN are American coined/shaped, which is owed not least the dependence of the ICANN on the US Ministry of Trade. Apart from the interest agency of the members CENTR has still further tasks.
