Bookcrossing is a world-wide movement to the free passing on of books to acquaintance, usually however to unknown persons. Over a central data base on the Website of the project thereby the way of the book can be pursued by all previous owners.
Each book is registered, before it is passed on, on the Bookcrossing web page and gets its own BCID (BookCrossing ). At the same time for the book its own Internet (under) is put on a side, on which the current and all future owner can leave their comments to the book.
After one provided the book with a handwritten remark or a label bonded, on which the BCID is registered, it to friends is passed on or in the public lie-let somewhere. Thereby weather-protected places are recommendable since some books are not found over longer time. Usually this "release" is registered also still into the data base, so that other Bookcrosser can go purposefully at the search to the book.
The Finder enters the BCID on the web page and can then as desired also still to it-write, where it found the book and like it it if necessary pleased. This comment is stored on the page of the book and sent automatically by E-Mail to that, which registered the book, as well as all other previous owners. In this way the career/development of the book as well as the opinions of the readers in the Internet can be checked at any time. However each book is not found; some are considered also for months as disappeared, until they emerge nevertheless again with an entry on the project Website, others never dip.
