BitlBee is a Instant Messaging (in the following "“IN"”) - Client. Differently than conventional Clients BitlBee is however a network gateway, which spends itself the user as IRC servers and which know minutes AIM, ICQ, Jabber and MSN. Outward BitlBee behaves like every other Instant of measuringclose, but the operation is crucially different: The user uses a usual IRC Client for communication. By the BitlBee server it can connect to the various in networks. The user profile can be stored on the server permanently. The advantage of this model is that any IRC Client for IN can be used.

Public servers

If one wants not to let the BitlBee server run on its own computer, one can use a public BitlBee server. In the MOTD stand server-specific rules:

• im.uk.bitlbee.org (Telford, UK, administers from sound Solutions Internet, SSL)

• im-usa.everdot.org (NYC, the USA, administers from xiando Corp, IPv6 ready)
