History of Audiogalaxy

Audiogalaxy was created by the programmer Michael Merhej about in the time, when the music exchange stock exchange Napster was sued in the year 2001 of the music industry and thereupon had to stop its enterprise. Here it concerns a debtor service, which does not develop however no more on the Web-based Audiogalaxy. Users can request now music pieces, which will then transfer as Stream in form of a Web radio.

After the official locking of Audiogalaxy there were various attempts to copy the Web-based system. On similar background and on central server are based likewise in each case GLT Poliane and Mediaseek, however obviously is not which no more developed further. Since the source code was however never released by Audiogalaxy (see: Public domain) and not least because the successors not the same conditions had available, is it these until today not succeeded to be established in the broad mass.

A programmer named Martin Rieder started a project, a whose goal is the development of a freely available server with the end of Audiogalaxy, which is based on the system of Audiogalaxy. First versions of this open AG server were already presented on its side for the operating system Linux. Nevertheless the project lasts due to the small means, which the developer for the order, still on.

Audiogalaxys original intention was it to simplify an exchanging from music to.
